About Coach Ryan
I am a former professional soccer player for the Philadelphia Fury in the American Soccer League (ASL). I scored 40 goals in 38 appearances for the club and led the league in goals scored for two consecutive years. We finished our final season 21-0, winning the ASL Cup Final. Prior to that, I played collegiate soccer at Ursinus College (Collegeville, PA), where I earned a spot on the All-Centennial Conference Team each of my four years. I finished second in scoring in school history with 36 career goals. I was also chosen as the Rookie of the Year in 2012. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health & Exercise Physiology in May 2016, and I am currently working towards my certification to become a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I have experience working as a Sports Performance Coach for Outlaw Training & Fitness and as a Health Fitness Specialist for EXOS. I have had a successful soccer training business in South Jersey for four years training individuals, small groups, and teams or the Palmyra-Riverton Soccer Club. One of my main focuses is mental toughness and how it plays a role in not only athletics but also personal training. I believe that having the right mentality and ability to push yourself to the limit separates good from star athletes. I have experienced several injuries and setbacks throughout my soccer career and learned through the recovery process that perseverance and determination are crucial to becoming a tougher athlete. One goal, three steps My training plan involves focusing on a skill through three steps. First, practice a skill until it becomes second nature. Second, incorporate and perform the skill in competition. Third, seek ways to improve the skill to develop and progress as a player. I also have an Instagram @train13soccertraining if you have any interest in getting an idea of the type of drills that I utilize with clients. |
