Meet our team at emPower

Josh March
Owner

Josh March - owner of emPOWER Training Systems

After working in commercial gyms and corporate wellness centers focused on fitting in with the mainstream gym mentality, Josh decided to break the traditional mold and begin emPower. For over 20 years he has taken his passion for helping others and his concept of functional training to help people take control of their lives. Outside of the gym, he is the Non-commissioned Officer-in-Charge of Chapel Operations for the 193rd Special Operations Wing in the United States Air Force (PA Air National Guard). Coach Josh is also the proud “Dada” to EmmaJane and Simon, and happily married to his wife Erin. As a competitive obstacle course racing athlete, he had the honor of competing on American Ninja Warrior in 2017 and brought home the title of “World Champion” in his age group at the 2021 OCR World Championships! Josh is currently pursuing his Master’s of Divinity at Liberty University.

Carla Beam
General Manager

Picture

As a former crossfit athlete and runner, Carla Beam found true functional strength training to be sustainable and fun! Now she manages daily operations at emPower. With over 15 years experience in the industry, with all populations and different goals, she's found joy in helping people overcome pain, injury, surgery rehab, etc. As a NSPA Weightlifting Performance Coach, NASM Personal Trainer and Barbell Rehab Certified Coach she has the knowledge, as well as the experience, to help anyone! When not in the gym she enjoys time with family, time with God, playing pickle-ball, laying by the pool or reading a good book. Words to live by-  "If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you!"

Mylee Smith
Strength Coach

Picture
Mylee’s passion for health and fitness began at a young age when she fell in love with working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through her involvement in sports, which included playing field hockey for 6 years. Through her own experiences, she discovered the importance of balancing fitness into your everyday life, and the connection between emotional and physical well-being. Mylee enjoys working closely with clients to show them how physical fitness enhances strength for life and quality of life. Her mission as a coach is to encourage clients to reach their goals while living a life full of the things they love most. When not in the gym, she enjoys time with friends and family, sunsets at the beach, journaling, and a good cup of coffee.

Rob Hazelbaker
Strength Coach

Picture
After years of relying on good DNA only for his fitness, Rob Hazelbaker found himself using his belly as a shelf at work. Starting his serious fitness journey that very day, it wasn’t long before he joined a legitimate gym and quickly became hooked on physical fitness with a desire to help others. Becoming certified as a personal trainer through the American Council of Exercise, Rob focuses on daily functional fitness as a goal for everyone he works with. His hobbies and interests away from the gym include spending time with his wife and their two dogs and a cat. He enjoys golf, reading, and savoring a nice craft beer!

Jacqui Zimmerman
Strength Coach and Registered Dietician

Picture
Coach Jacqui developed a desire to help individuals lead healthier lives from a young age. After watching her grandfather's health deteriorate from Type II diabetes and poor dietary choices, she made the decision to become a Dietician. After 10 years of practicing clinical dietetics and preventative care at LGH, she left to start her own practice. She currently runs a virtual Nutrition Coaching practice where she is most passionate about helping those suffering from autoimmune conditions, gut health issues, and hormonal imbalance. As she was working with many female clients who were under-eating and overtraining, she decided to get her Personal Training Certification to be able to speak to both nutrition and fitness. In her spare time, Jacqui enjoys strength training, walking, and running for fun! She lives in the Conestoga Valley school district with her 2 active boys and husband.

Mike Spurley
Strength Coach and Autism Fitness Coach

Picture

Mike's love of movement began as a child as he climbed trees and ran around the woods and fields around his childhood home.  Later, he was involved with a fencing team, a swing dancing troop, and two forms of martial arts.  In 2014 he became involved with OCR and has been active and passionate with that ever since.  Mike decided to share his love of functional movement and fitness by becoming a personal trainer and acquiring his CPT through NASM.  When Mike isn't at the gym or running OCR events, he enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, trying new foods, meeting new people, and adventuring!  One of Mike's favorite quotes is, "Be strong to be helpful."

Diane Thomas
Strength Coach

Diane Thomas
My journey into fitness began over 20 years ago when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. I was always a very active person, but when I got sick I realized I needed to make a change and get stronger. My journey back to health began with yoga, then to crossfit, and finally weight training at emPower. After working with Josh and Carla, I decided to get my Personal Training Certification through NASM in 2019. Since then I have taken workshops in kettlebells, metabolic conditioning, and corrective exercise. When I'm not in the gym, you'll find me playing pickle-ball, quilting, hiking, spending time with my dog, Fonzie, and my husband, Dan.

Keith Royer
Group Class Coach

Picture
Keith Royer began his training journey as one of emPOWER's clients and turned that experience into a passion for coaching. He earned his certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). He also holds a certification in youth fitness and Sparta as well. Besides fitness coaching, Keith serves as an Instructional Technology Specialist at IU13. He has been teaching for the past 23 years and received his BS in education from Millersville University, and his Master's from Harrisburg University. It has been a natural transition through his teaching career to apply goal-setting and coaching techniques that he has adapted in the classroom. He is committed to his own personal wellness goals through regular strength and interval training.

Sibbie Groh
Group Class Coach

Sibbie Groh
Sibbie began her own personal training as a client at emPOWER with the goal of completing a Tough Mudder competition. The encouraging environment at emPower ignited such a new level of confidence within herself that she wanted to lead and inspire other exercise enthusiasts. She believes that everyone is capable of maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle when surrounded by supportive peers. Since graduating from McCaskey High School, she has practiced nursing as an LPN at the LGH Residency Program in downtown Lancaster. She is passionate about serving and caring for her patients. Sibbie enjoys the outdoors and loves participating in Mud Runs, 5Ks, obstacle runs, and a variety of distance running events.

Whitney Laventure
Autism Fitness and OCR Coach

Picture
Whitney's health and fitness journey started at a young age while running track and playing soccer and rugby. She began her personal training journey initially as a client, which led her to obtain her Personal Training Certification and certification as a Holistic Women's Hormonal Health Consultant. She has a passion for working with children and increasing their fitness through play with the fun of obstacle training. Whitney loves to help others learn and grow stronger! Besides fitness coaching, Whitney has worked in the culinary department at a retirement community for the past 7 years and has over 15 years of culinary knowledge and experience. When not in the gym, she loves to participate in 5k and 10k road races, obstacle course racing, bouldering, and ninja warrior competitions!
